Welcome to the RESPA website. Who is RESPA? We are the Rockford Educational Support Personnel Association and represent nearly 400 support staff at Rockford Public Schools. Our union contract covers custodial, maintenance, transportation, food service, secretaries and paraprofessionals (BAC, Security and Technology staff are not included).
The original association started back in the late 1960's, and was known as the Non-Teaching Association. In 1988 we voted to join MEA (Michigan Education Association) and merge all of the support staff into one contract. By joining MEA we also associated with NEA (National Education Association). Our local coordinating council is KCEA (Kent County Educational Associationg). Through the process of negotiation with the district, the RESPA contract guarantees the working conditions that you have with Rockford Public Schools.
The contract also explains the benefits you have such as personal days off, sick time and insurance coverage. By clicking on the tabs above you can learn more of the benefits of having a union contract.
